This inclination for festivities and merrymaking found itself home with one of Lucban’s many famous sons, artist Oscar Zalameda.<br /><br />Bon vivant and luxurious, Zalameda lived a lavish lifestyle, rubbing elbows with high society. However, despite his flamboyant personality, Zalameda’s muse is the pastorale of his hometown. In his cubist style, Zalameda’s works are composed of Filipino subjects and folk themes, like this lot at hand entitled Fruits Vendors. He painted the piece in his classical light colors, clean and clear-cut in his cubist art form. Like his hometown, Fruit Vendors is bursting at the seams with warm colors, bright beauty, and enthusiastic festivities.
