He paints directly onto his canvas, letting intuition and organic improvisation lead him to create highly personal and spontaneous art pieces.

\nThough spontaneous in nature, there is method to As’s madness. In this 2017 piece entitled Ngarai Sianok Landscape, As utilizes texture and the color’s depth to portray the titular Ngarai Sianok or the Sianok Canyon, one of Indonesia’s wonders. The form flows and ebbs into the valleys and formations of the canyon that is located just on the outskirts of Bukittinggi in West Sumatera. Even in the abstract, As manages to make Sianok’s presence known through his masterful control.

\nAs was trained at the Indonesian Institute of Fine Art and he is highly esteemed in the art circles of Singapore, Indonesia, and the rest of Southeast Asia.
