As a member of the “Mabini Artists,” he had a penchant for\ntraditional Filipino imagery, especially market tableaus. Situating himself on the\niconic art scene, Buenaventura became the foremost painter of the Mabini Art\nMovement and his works became the crowning glory of the place, bringing\nto it excitement and verve. He was, according to Cid Reyes, “Mabini Art’s\ndazzling lodestar.” These featured pieces from the celebrated artist are timeless\ntestaments to his versatility, merging or alternating between representational,\nimpressionistic, and expressionistic techniques. After his death, Mabini fell into\nseediness and has never been quite the same again.
