As a practitioner of abstract minimalism, Albor always avoided representation and instead focused on the informal elements of art-making. He has made evident in his body of work his inclination towards the art genre. Albor worked according to the minimalist principles for the audience to experience color, form, space, and material in their purest form and explore without the distractions of composition and themes. Hence, his paintings evoke a visual experience that invites interpretations of their enigmatic meanings.
As one of the foremost abstractionists working today, Albor is known for his zen oeuvres which make use of raw visual elements that are not overwhelming with intense lines and lurid colors. The Thirteen Artist Awardee explores the capacity of color to create a realm of sensation and insight, leading to the progress of his visual language to artworks in different shades of the same neutral color. The use of colors gray, black, and white are signature to most Albor pieces, each of the colors holding a symbolic meaning. However, in this 1981 piece titled Terminus, Albor painted the canvas in shades of brown. The color brown, often associated with nature, can seem vast and empty, like a dryland devoid of life.
