Although he often drew inspiration and material upon everyday surroundings and objects, the essence of his creations prevails as allegorical and philosophical.

The creative spirit of Chabet led him to venture into different forms of art throughout his career. From a painter, sculptor, and curator, he eventually became the founding Museum Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He initiated the first Thirteen Artists Awards, a recognition awarded to young artists whose works “show a recentness, a turning away from the past and familiar modes of art-making.” The mark that Roberto Chabet left on the art industry lives on, even after his death in 2013, through his artworks and the teachings he bestowed as a mentor for three decades.
