Javelosa revolve around a synthesis of the intellectual and expressive facets of art. In a 2022 interview with ANCX, Javelosa stated: “A work of art must speak to you both on an intellectual and an emotional level.” As evident in this piece, Javelosa effectively weaves these two aspects of art through her unrestrained employment of strokes and colors, wholly submitting to her creative impulses.

Javelosa obtained her master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. Since the 1990s, Javelosa has deeply immersed herself and actively participated in the field of the visual arts. As an artist, she has mounted 20 solo exhibitions. Javelosa has worked with two of the chief cultural institutions in the country, the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. She has lent her expertise to the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information, working with other Southeast Asian countries and spearheading international and local projects.
