Hailing from Paete, Laguna, the “The Folk Artist” creates picturesque depictions of his rustic hometown, as well as the awe of its festivals and day-to-day life. In most Baldemor pieces, the community is immersed in an aura of tradition and camaraderie that is common amongst Filipino towns and barangays. As a well-traveled contemporary artist, having served as an artist-in-residence in over five countries, his interpretations of locales abroad are filled with folkness and familiar energy that reminds us of our home fronts, towns, and valleys. These featured works serve as previews of Baldemor’s visual travel diaries—full of his lived experiences imbued on the canvas told through his paintbrush.
