Social burdens of\nFilipino workers have moved him to create powerful works; he believes that\nit is an artist’s responsibility to reveal human struggles as a social being with a\nconscience. Just like other active social realists in the 1970s who went against\nthe dark regime, Delotavo reveals the harsh realities of ordinary Filipinos such as\nliving in poverty and poor working conditions.
Oppression and injustice in Philippine society are also his main themes. More\nthan revealing a nation with major issues needed to be addressed, Delotavo also\ninsists that art has the power to comfort the oppressed and to raise awareness\nupon those who live in comfort and privilege.
