He took basic painting \nlessons with Rody Herrera in high school years. Tiongco’s \nstint with Herrera is often cited as one the reasons why \nhe decided to become a full-fledged painter.
Tiongco was then encouraged to enroll in the University \nof the Philippines’ College of Fine Arts where he thrived \namongst his peers. Despite dropping out after only a year \nin college, Tiongco was able to form lifelong bonds and \nconnections he shared with his fellow peers through \ngroup projects and exhibitions
With nearly 4 decades of artistic experience under his \nbelt, Tiongco’s skills are undoubtedly tempered by time, \npatience and passion. His early works were often rendered \nin an impressionist style. With depictions of various still-life \nobjects and scenery painted with an unhinged yet intense \nbrushwork. But, his unique artistic flair seperates him \nfrom the typical canon. Tiongco’s masterful practice \nelevates his usual subjects of bouquets of flowers and \nbowls of fruit are elevated by virtue of a light yet \npowerful application that gives the objects both and \nethereal and ephemeral soul.","lot_group":"PAINTING","lot_details_html":"
