This lot at hand portrays the silent intimacy born between two lovers. Both naked, the woman cradles the man to her chest. Her hand wraps protectively around her lover as he lays and drinks in the comfort she gives. There is a sense of melancholy to this piece as if saying that no matter how hard one tries, they can never truly take all the sufferings of their loved ones.

Indeed, this Borlongan piece revels in the silence and celebrates the uncomfortable. The viewer seems almost voyeuristic as they look upon a truly private moment. The downtrodden take comfort with each other sitting hand-to-hand and chest-to-chest as they continue to weather whatever difficulty life gives them. However, there is an underlying sense of hope in this piece. They have each other, they seem to say, and that is enough. (Hannah Valiente)
