The process of creating pastel art is akin to drawing, but the finished work resembles paintings, creating a unique blend of the two mediums. Some artists use blending tools to blend and smudge the pastel, but many prefer to use their fingers, which makes the drawing process a little messy yet results in a captivating piece. In Still Life, Agustin Goy drew a bouquet of flowers with pastels on cream-colored paper, creating a striking contrast between his colors. Goy’s paintings are meticulously detailed and have a deep and optimistic feeling, regardless of the subject matter and material used, as seen in this 1992 masterwork. Seemingly engulfed by a soft glow, his subject exudes an exquisite and sophisticated appeal.
