He was able to capture Amorsolo’s warm sunlight, as evidenced by this 1978 Portrait of a Man. In this portrait, Alano manages to make the Filipino’s sun-kissed skin shine as the sunlight dances across this old man’s face. The cigarette he pressed against his lips exudes a faint trail of smoke. Through this portrait, Alano tells a compelling story as he portrays the tale of the famed Filipino resiliency and the lives that the ordinary Filipino leads.
