Done a year before his historic win in the Art Association of the Philippines Art Competition and Exhibition in 1972, Still Life portrays his talent in pen and ink as he depicts the lively state of a Filipino kitchen. Using only his masterful knowledge of shadows and lights, Baldemor’s kitchen looks lived in, its cubistic element adding depth and dimension to the piece.
\n
Like Alfredo Roces, Baldemor was part of the Saturday Group. The Saturday Group was composed of artists of all ages, meeting up at Taza de Oro in Ermita along Roxas Boulevard where they shared each other’s companies and ideas.
