In this detailed pen-and-ink work, Baldemor depicts a homely kitchen just as one is about to prepare their dinner. On the table were a halved squash, a stalk of bok choy, and the titular patola. Baldemor’s deft hands expertly created depth and contours using only pen and ink, a talent that would eventually lead him overseas as he continued to exalt the Filipino tradition through his art.
