Drawn\nto the visage of dark-haired women amongst the Philippine flora and fauna, Austria’s works run with the\nundercurrent of Filipino strength. In this specific piece, one of Austria’s beloved muses takes her stand as\nhe depicts a young woman playing a wooden flute whose wild, dark hair creates the backdrop of the bamboo\nstalks and the birds she surrounds herself with. The Filipina takes the forefront in his work, and Austria imbues\nhis women with his unique visual language, creating a piece that is soft yet strong, pliable yet unbreakable, and\nmagnificently awe-inspiring.
