He is an artist adept at both styles, and his works seem to carry the essence of both styles at once. It is evident in this particular piece, though it is recognizably a still-life of two apples on a counter, Aguilar Alcuaz manages to inject a sense of abstract beauty into the piece. Its colors are almost otherworldly, vibrant in their dream-like state. His virtuosity allows him to shift between styles simultaneously, his works producing a sense of stability in his abstractions through his interlocking shapes and amorphous forms, surreal and somber in their entirety.
