She is one of the two Filipinas whose works were displayed in the Philippine Center New York Core Collection of 1974, bringing to light her masterful intersection of the Philippine color and the Western sensibility. These works in hand, both titled Abstract, showcase just that. With their refreshing colors and delineated edges, they take on a unique perspective on the Filipino diaspora, done in what the artist herself describes as “calligrams” or geometric patterns painted in bright colors.
