His works were represented in the collections of the National Museum, Ateneo Art Gallery, Cultural Center of the Philippines, and several private collections. He also served as the first Director of the Museum Department of the Cultural Center of the Philippines from 1969 to 1970 and as a professor at the UP College of Fine Arts for over 30 years, inspiring generations of artists. Chabet described his pieces as “creatures of memory” and himself as their “custodian.” His pieces often reflect a meditative approach to space and the displacement of objects, inviting viewers to contemplate the deeper meanings behind the seemingly simple forms. He frequently used materials such as plywood, paper, and found objects, creating pieces that questioned modernity and the transitory nature of everyday objects.
