Painting has been his outlet of expression; his artworks mirror his timid and reserved disposition, and his materials bear silent witness to his innermost thoughts and emotions. Carating’s artistic prowess is evidenced by the numerous high praises and recognitions he has received from art connoisseurs and institutions. Following the success of his figurative and expressionist works, his renowned Laman Lupa and Anilao series, Carating transitioned into pure abstraction. Devoid of any recognizable objects, Carating’s compositions still have the profound ability to stir the viewers’ emotional response. His unique artistry created a collection of works distinguished by their geometric shapes, controlled brushwork, thin-layered metallic colors, and his application of paint as if furrowed by a fine-toothed comb. Depending on the palette, his pieces can evoke a profound sense of calm, hope, or fervor, deeply resonating with the viewers.
