Created during the social isolation of 2020, Aninag is also a commentary on the state of solitude normally unknown in the tight-knit community of the Philippines. As the man, composed of nothing but scribbles and smoke, stares a head, he is but a shade darker than his background. As much as it speaks of loneliness, it also speaks of resilience — should the man fade away, he becomes nothing but the background behind him. Still, he perseveres, persisting even amidst turbulent situations.
