His paintings often feature a bahay kubo amidst exuberant foliage reflected through the calm lakes and rivers. They are situated under clear skies and are bathed by the sun’s soft glow, spreading a comforting warmth through his rather blue and green sceneries. Aside from his bahay kubo, Buenaventura also painted images that exhibited rice fields, mountain views, and seascapes, sometimes populated by people tending to their everyday chores and activities. With his exceptional colorwork and delicate brush strokes, Buenaventura’s canvases offer a profound sense of tranquility and nostalgia. Furthermore, his canvases provide a rich tapestry of Philippine life, serving as a portal that transports viewers back in time to marvel at the grandeur of the Philippine countryside.
