His significant role in promoting Southeast Asian contemporary art to the international audience is a testament to his influence and dedication, as evidenced by the exhibitions he curated, which featured Pacita Abad, among other notable artists. \nHe produced paintings and prints from the 1960s to the 1970s featuring intimate human figure renderings. Many of these prints were made using the woodcut technique in its relief printing process, a method attributed by critics to Paras-Perez as its primary resuscitator. The woodcut technique involves carving an image into a wooden block, applying ink to the raised areas, and then transferring the image onto paper. This technique, which Paras-Perez revived and popularized, allowed him to create bold, graphic prints with a unique texture. His piece, Cat and the Nude, which depicts a naked woman in a deep slumber with a cat over a red bed, is a glimpse into his preference for featuring intimate human figures in his artworks, which is his preferred subject matter.
