Very Filipino in his taste and approaches, his cubistic art style renders a refreshing take on the Philippine countryside and the quietude that comes from it and this particular piece takes on the beauty of the Philippine flora. Through his iconic style, Salita depicts a woman kneeling next to her bed of flowers, with one of the flowers tucked neatly behind her ear. She is dressed in simple yet comfortable clothes, with the white bandana keeping her hair out of her face similar to the ones used by women working in the field. Though deceptively simplistic, Oscar Salita’s worlds provide a pocket of the rural Philippines tucked neatly into the four edges of his canvas – fresh, vibrant, and nostalgic of the Philippines long past.
