To show another viewpoint of the beautiful,” Olan Ventura said in an interview in 2014. Ventura’s artistic approach, a unique blend of hyperrealism and psychological exploration, is a journey into the human mind. He presents his still lifes and portraits with high regard; his skillful employment of color, shadow, and negative and x-ray inspired elements proves to be a distinct quality of his oeuvre. This approach not only alters his images but also captivates the minds of the viewers, leaving them in a state of fascination and contemplation. Olan Ventura earned his degree in Fine Arts from the University of the East in 1998. Since then, Ventura continued to hone his craft and mounted numerous solo and group exhibitions both locally and internationally. His talent and dedication to the arts have been acknowledged with several awards and recognitions under his belt, including the Juror’s Choice Award in the 2005 Philippine Arts Awards and the Most Outstanding Alumnus for Arts and Culture from the University of the East in 2007.
