Like many of his works, his 1981 Crucifixion reduced his Christ into an amalgamation of limbs and bones, joints twisted into impossible angles. As the faceless Christ is doomed to His fate, Kiukok forces his viewer to strip Christ of His divinity and confront His death as a mortal and man. His suffering is a tumultuous and horrific event that spanned hours, draining a man of his life and will. In this crucifixion, one is forced to meditate on Christ and His agony, rose-colored glasses finally removed.
