She was known for being the first female president of the Philippines and the face of democracy, but what lies beyond her political career is her prolific artistry.

Painting was one of Cory's favorite ways to keep her sense of humanity intact and take her mind off things. Her artworks are always bright and colorful, and often feature flowers and women. As a devout Catholic, she also incorporated religious items in her paintings, such as the rosary. Her collection of works ranges from acrylic and oil on canvas to stones, wooden and ceramic plates, and bags. This versatility is a testament to her creativity and passion for the arts.

As she views painting as a healing activity, she rarely exchanged her artworks for money, except for the few times she allowed them to be auctioned off to raise funds for her advocacies. Instead, most of her works were given to her family, friends, and colleagues as presents. Before giving out her paintings, Cory even writes a dedication on the back of the frames, making them more special and personalized.
