In the middle partition, a golden latch and lock are present, inviting the observer to meditate on the meaning beyond the dream-like image of the piece, in hopes of learning more about their self-psyches. Aside from that, the word \"Substation\" refers to a facility within an electrical power system that is used to distribute electricity. It serves as a critical link between bower generation, transmission, and distribution. With that in mind, Navas' piece could be interpreted as a link—a connection between dream (since the color primarily blue associates with wisdom, spirituality, and reliability) and reality; a blue gate that stitches the world of dreams and imagination to reality. And with the golden latch and lock present, the piece signifies to its observers that the world of imagination is ready for them to discover and explore.

Finishing both a degree from Fine Arts (from University of the Philippines) and a major in Psychology (From Ateneo de Manila University), it's not surprising that Navas' paintings have the mindscape and meditative flair to them—a combination of two drastically distant disciplines culminating to create something dream-like and beautiful through canvases and brushwork. Characterized by her meditative approach that emphasizes texture, depth, and the physicality of the paint she uses, Navas' art technique enables her pieces to exist in a space between the flat canvases of a traditional painting and the robust aspects of sculpture works.

Just like the artist who decided to study what she loves after finishing her studies in Ateneo —a course she chose first for practical reasons —Elaine Navas invites the observers of her artworks to do the same—to follow what they love.
