Borlongan's Beast of Burden possesses a dual meaning: a critique of those who live lavishly, the powers that be who do nothing but continue to put pressure on the masses while the pandemic and quarantine hit; and a literal personification of COVID-19 with the figure's big physique representing the heavy burden that all people experienced during that time—a literal beast of burden.
