Inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces of Ifugao and the myriad rice terraces of the entire Cordillera region, the piece illustrates an abstract series of arcs, collaged in such a way that it mimics the rice terraces, flowing diagonally from lower left to upper right, creating a sense of movement, rhythm, and topography.

The layered rice papers add depth and meaning to the piece, mimicking the rice terraces' tiered configuration. The use of green dominates the piece, representing the lush vegetation and soil, altogether highlighting Joya's preference to incorporate the cultural symbolism of the terraces and celebrate the Filipino people's harmony with nature by abstraction. Through his art piece, Joya manages to transform a traditional subject into something modern—a visual language that is uniquely Filipino yet globally resonant.
