At first glance, the piece looks like any ordinary still-life painting, but looking deeper at the details, it might suggest it was anything but.

Painted in 1992, the painting features an illustration of a bouquet of flowers placed in containers, accompanied by other forms of flowers and plants in their own vases. What is interesting in the piece is that Olmedo paints the scene in a dream-like, almost ghostly manner. From the slightly drooping petals to the pale color palette, it is clear that, unlike other still lifes that convey beauty and abundance, this piece introduces the opposite, suggesting the ethereal quality of the fleeting nature and cycle of life.
