The first figure depicts a faceless entity wearing some sort of uniform as it seems to be listening to the person next to it. The right figure, on the other hand, is a sickly woman dressed in yellow, looking at the first figure while wrapped in a green blanket. Based on her weary expression, it might be possible that the second individual is tired or currently sick.

Interpreting the piece, it can be seen that the faceless figure represents either a memory or a figure not present with the individual in the scene. It depicts the clear signs of isolation and the sickly figure represents the vulnerable feeling of that isolation. Express Love explores the detachment and repression that come from being alone, with the blanket resembling the mask that protects the figure from her own mental and emotional state acting as a deep visualisation of mental health and emotional survival.
