One of the rare Filipino artists to achieve mastery across multiple disciplines, Alcuaz moved fluidly between painting, sculpture, ceramics, tapestry, and even intimate works crafted from paper scraps. His practice defied rigid categorization — each medium informed the other, blurring boundaries and enriching his visual language. This breadth of mastery allowed him to forge an oeuvre that was both deeply personal and remarkably versatile, where abstraction and figuration conversed with equal force.<br> The present work exemplifies Alcuaz’s lyrical command of abstraction. Rendered in a restrained palette of earthy ochres, warm taupes, and inky blacks, the composition pulses with layered energy. Swirls, arcs, and organic shapes overlap in a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, evoking a landscape in flux or a fragmented memory in motion. There is a tactile density to the surface — a sense that the forms are at once emerging and dissolving, resisting definitive interpretation. In this ambiguity lies the strength of Alcuaz’s vision: a commitment to creating spaces where viewers can project their own narratives, f inding beauty in the delicate tension between order and chaos.
