His fine brushwork and compelling palette encapsulate the essence and grandeur of old buildings, ancestral houses, and traditional streets in his canvases, each with its own unique story and historical significance. Memije’s photorealistic rendition of these structures demonstrates his precision and command of his medium, capturing every detail, crack, and fold. This untitled masterpiece is a testament to Memije’s deft artistry and proficient colorism, evident in his play with light and shadow. Despite the visible cracks and tattered windows, the artist infused his imagery with the bright Philippine sunlight, spreading warmth and adding a bit of life to the rather cold and deserted ruins.

Painted in 1996, this masterpiece shows Lauro Memije’s unwavering talent and continuous growth as an artist, two decades after his entrance into the art scene. Shortly after his first solo exhibition in 1975, Memije also participated in several solo and group shows, gaining recognition for his skills both locally and internationally.
