There is no shortage of commentaries in his surrealist oeuvre, a melting pot of inspirations from both the mythical and the realistic realm that results in a dreamlike, almost ethereal piece of art.

His 2004 piece, “Sitting on a Blue Chair Waiting to be Crowned,” carries that signature irony that permeates almost all of his work. Front and center is a figure with their legs thrown over the arm of a lush, blue sofa. They stare up at the sky where miniature angels hold up three crowns. On the floor lie several plucked roses. Combined with the vibrant yet restrained color palette, this work feels bursting at the seams with imagery and symbolism.
