This monochromatic surrealist masterpiece by Charlie Co provides another example of his commentary on the cycles of conflict of domination through visual language. Through distorted anatomy, limited color palette, and dreamlike intensity, the Artist has perfectly created a powerful allegory of human destructiveness and delusion.

Made around 2000, Charlie Co had perfectly transformed a quintessential image of a heroic horseman into an omen of fear and folly. The image features a rider dressed like a warrior, blowing what appears to be a trumpet, while mounting a horse. The monochromatic tone creates an unsettling and haunting atmosphere, complemented by the horse and rider which could represent power and conquest as it blows its own horn or trumpet, seemingly announcing the figure's arrival and the destruction it brings.

Digging deeper, Charlie Co's masterpiece might be a commentary regarding the cycle of conflict throughout society, caused by dictatorship, war, colonialization, or global militarization. By re-creating a grim, almost mythical scene of a harbinger through visual language, the Artist invites reflection on how power corrupts and dehumanizes.
