What's eye-catching about this piece is the yellow-orange patch spread as dried splotch stains on the canvas, as if it were deliberately placed before the brown plotches. The way the brown organic stains seem to drip and spread around the canvas, complemented by the orange-yellow stains, mimics the reality of decomposition.

Referring to the subject that the piece was named after, tomatoes are most commonly associated with symbols of life, growth, and nourishment. The complete opposite of decay that Pacquing's masterpiece seems to highlight in his canvas, yet perfectly capturing the fragility of organic life and the beauty found in imperfection and decay. Pacquing's abstract piece perfectly highlights how organic life inevitably decays, yet at the same time, can be immortalized through visual art—the splashes, stains, and residue becoming the metaphors for the effect of time and the persistence of material memory.
