The central square area occupies the majority of the canvas, while dark shades on both sides serve as margins, effectively trapping light on the canvas.

Unlike his El Júcar series, where he explores the temporal flow of a river, capturing the movements of the flowing Júcar River, Espacio De Espera emphasizes the opposite of movement—the construction of an experiential space of suspended motion, where the tension of silence is palpable. Inviting the viewer to meditate on the quiet piece with heightened sensitivity. For Zóbel, \"waiting\" is not a passive act. Instead, it is a temporal and perceptual condition—a moment in time where sight slows down and becomes attentive.

Overall, Fernando Zóbel's 1971 piece Espacio de Espera II could be considered a study of suspended motion—a restrained choreography of strokes floating in a soft atmospheric white void. By stripping the composition to its essentials, the artist managed to create a contemplative space—a visual representation of an interval of time, completely encased in a canvas. It stands as a prime example of Zóbel's abstractions, where gesture perception and poetic stillness converge in a single visual masterpiece.
