However, Dela Cruz buried this interest deep within himself as he took a degree in Philosophy to fulfill his parents' wishes. But soon after graduating from college, he made a bold decision to pursue his passion for the arts. <br /> <br />In light of his 40th birthday in 2007, dela Cruz inaugurated his first solo show, titled Kandungan. This momentous event marked his debut in the art scene, the first of the many exhibitions dedicated to his sublime artistry. This particular piece, When Deeds Speak, features two women caught in a perilous situation. One of them was dangling in the air while her comrade held her hand to prevent her from falling, all the while balancing her weight in a thin cord that served as a bridge connecting the cliffs they were likely crossing. <br /> <br />This 2013 sculpture, crafted from a blend of different metals—brass, stainless steel, copper, and nickel— demonstrates Daniel dela Cruz's ingenuity and exceptional craftsmanship in every bend, mold, and carve he makes to his materials. His figures' faces were left intentionally blank, alluding to the notion that humanity and kindness stem from one's heart and soul, rather than their physical appearance.
