But more than a child of an acclaimed artist, Soler was also an established artist in his own right. At different points in his career, he practiced different techniques and explored various media, but one thing remained: his subjects, which he drew inspiration from nature, mostly flora.

In 1981, Soler, who was 21 years old at the time, mounted his first one-man show at the Luz Gallery. Since then, several solo and group exhibitions have followed, including some with his father, Malang, and brother, Steve, as well as with his own wife and children. Carrying on his father’s daring idea, Soler and his wife, Mona, spearheaded West Gallery, which continues to be one of the premier contemporary art galleries in the Philippines.
