Consisting of a woven basket, bananas, and pear-shaped fruits, seemingly frozen as it was asymmetrically placed on the table. The simplicity of the basket and the wooden table implies the humbleness and domesticity of Filipino daily life. The fruits’ warm glow, on the other hand, exudes care and nostalgia, creating an image that turns a typical household view into a study of texture, warmth, and cultural memory. Norma Beleza’s painting invites its observers to take a second look and appreciate how the color, object, and meaning interweave within the painting to convey its implied meanings.
