Essentially transforming a mundane scene into a quiet and introspective atmosphere where lighting objects and space express interior emotions.\n\nCreated around 1992, the piece focuses on the image of a small round table set with watermelon, banana, and other fruits, as two candles light it, setting the intimate mood of the piece. From the ceiling hangs a lamp that seems to illuminate the surrounding tables and chairs, as well as the red-and-white checkered floors. The grainy textures give the still life a hazy, memory-like quality, blurring the boundaries between waking life and a dream, and the piece is a poetic meditation on intimacy, memory, and emotional shelter.
