The windows are broken, and the cement is thinning, stripping it bare and slowly revealing the materials that constituted the walls of a once well-built establishment. Still, Severino’s exemplary brush strokes and keen color sense captured the structure’s former beauty and grandeur, including its stored memories and history, despite its deteriorating condition. Moreover, this 1977 piece demonstrates the artist’s mastery of watercolor, a medium many artists avoid.
