Simplified yet as iconic as his other works, the painting visually highlights the nurturing relationship between mothers and their children and the simplicity of domestic Filipino life. His iconic non-detailed faces draw his viewers’ attention to the painting’s form, gesture, and emotion, universalizing the central figures into a holistic representation of maternal love and intimacy in Filipino culture. With Salita using soft pastel tones that hint at gentleness and a peaceful atmosphere, his artwork successfully created a tribute to the timeless bond between families and the beauty of ordinary life.
