Dated to the artist’s mature period, the sitter was drawn with accuracy and formal composition, emphasizing the subject’s realism, dignity, and identity. \nThe way it preserves the facial details highlights Zaragoza’s excellence in technique, honed over years of journey. Not just an academic who had studied art, but also an illustrator who blends European artistic styles with Filipino subjects, scenes, and sensibilities during the Spanish colonial period.
