Though it may seem devoid of human. life, a single glance reveals the proof of the contrary – the wet sand is still imprinted with various footsteps, the nearest nipa hut features a clothesline hanging outside its window, and many more. With the row of bangka resting along the shores, this Seascape is perhaps Laxa’s interpretation of a break in the fishermen’s workday – a fisherman’s day starts early, even before the sun rises. After braving the elements in the hopes of a bountiful harvest, the fishermen then head back to the shore, where they unload and sort through their haul. \n\nA son of a fisherman, Laxa had once worked as one himself in his youth; as such, the seascapes are considered one of Laxa’s fortes, with his ability to capture the timeless beauty of the water and the livelihood surrounding it reflecting his personal love of the sea.
