His 2010 masterpiece Up-Graded juxtaposes traditional elements with contemporary technology. Representing the transformation of childhood experiences in the digital age. Just like his other prominent works, which often comment on social conditions and consumer culture, this 2010 piece visually asks the important question of whether modernization truly improves lives, or if it simply replaces forms of play and imagination necessary for one’s own development and experiences. Does technology really make the next generation wiser and more creative—or are they just being conditioned to a systemic future that demands automation and uniformity?
