Featuring illustrated images of an expansive, quiet rural landscape, Hidalgo emphasizes details in the skies, giving the artwork a contemplative, almost melancholic mood. The quiet setting, sparse architecture, and his emphasis on mood over detail, Hidalgo reveals the piece as more of a meditation on solitude or transience. It highlights his versatility and sensitivity to landscape, contributing further to the artist’s excellence, which would not only inspire national consciousness but also lay the groundwork for modern Philippine art.
