The people, huddled together, are seeking shelter from the heavy rainfall. Each figure shares a similar posture and expression, dressed in similar clothes, suggesting a sense of collective identity and shared experience. The raindrops, suspended in time, resonate with quiet contemplation. Rather than simply waiting and wondering when the rain will stop, this painting conveys a hopeful undertone reminiscent of the saying, “This too shall pass.”

According to The Artesan’s biography on Montemayor, he is “a founding member of the Antipolo-based artist group Salingpusa” and “has been active in the local community of artists; first, as a collaborator for projects and works among local painters and peers; and later as a mentor to a younger group of artists who would also achieve renown for their own work.”

In 1994, Montemayor became a recipient of the prestigious Thirteen Artists Award granted by the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
