As a recipient of the Thirteen Artists Award, this Filipino artist excels in portraiture, selecting his subjects from the anonymous crowds on busy streets.

His “enlighten the public about the impact of poverty, oppression, and injustice in the country,” wrote Global Voices in one of their articles that honor International Labor Day. And, when asked about his sources of inspiration, Delotavo replied: “Most great art emanates from a pleasant, positive spirit which is uplifting that inspires it. My art seems to contradict it. Social burden initiates it, and I seek relief by painting it. I’m not sure if it’s inspiration. I think it’s more of a responsibility as a social being with a conscience.”

The signed oil on canvas piece is dated 2021. That year, Delotavo was included in a group exhibit titled Ligalig: Art in a Time of Threat and Turmoil held at the Ateneo Art Gallery, Philippines.
