He has\ncontinually worked in abstraction and non-representation,\nexploring the physicality of surfaces and the material\nminutiae of urban life through painting and sculptural\nforms. Pacquing’s layers of paint act as an archive for several\nyears of his practice, as he coats each canvas with heaps of\ncolor until the work reaches its culmination. <br /><br />\nPacquing was born in Tarlac, Pampanga in 1967. He\ngraduated from the University of the Philippines College\nof Fine Arts in 1989 and was twice awarded the Grand\nPrize for the Art Association of the Philippines Open Art\nCompetition in 1992 and 1999. Pacquing is also a recipient\nof the Cultural Center of the Philippines Thirteen Artists\nAward in 2000, an award given to exemplary artists in the\nfield of contemporary visual art.
